ESARDA organises meeting regularly either by itself or in collaboration with other organisations. The meetings are an opportunity for scientific exchange and collaboration. The latest developments in safeguards and different perspectives on tackling the challenges in the fields are presented and debated. The meetings are always marked scientific gatherings.

The ESARDA members take it in turns to organise the meetings and therefore it is held in a different country or city each time. The advantage of varying the location is that participants from the host country (local organisations such as universities, research centres, industry etc).who would not necessarily be able to attend a meeting elsewhere are given a valuable opportunity.

Annual Meetings are given the title "Symposium", or "Topical Meeting". In the tables, you will find a list of these meetings. Traditionally, the Annual Meetings take place in May; they are numbered.

Symposia aim to present the results of research programmes from various institutions and universities; they are totally open to anyone who wishes to attend. Sessions are organised in such a way that attendees can chose the presentations of greatest interest to them. Therefore, attending various sessions can also be very useful from a personal and professional point of view.
Topical meetings (also known as Workshops) are more restricted, and profit from the assiduous and active participation of attendees during the sessions.

The meetings so far organised are listed in the Tables below. Among them, it is worth noting the series of "Workshops on Science and Modern Technology for Safeguards" - organised in collaboration with the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management - which aim at exploring areas of science and technology not yet exploited by safeguards, with a view to detecting technologies which could help improve efficiency in safeguards.

The proceedings of meetings are regularly published. They are distributed free of charge to the participants of the relevant meeting. They are available to any one else upon payment of 50 EURO per copy
